Global Green is a national organization that is working locally to improve the lives of low-income families through greening affordable housing, creating sustainable neighborhoods, and advancing climate solutions that work for communities.  Together with Brad Pitt, Global Green announced a Sustainable Design Competition for New Orleans – Advancing the Green Rebuilding of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast.

GreenCoast Enterprises (GCE) is a community resilience company that builds stronger, better-connected, healthier, wealthier, and more resilient communities in the US Gulf Coast

The Green Project is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creatively promoting and encouraging environmental sustainability in New Orleans. They recycle building materials and paint, deconstruct homes and salvage usable materials. They also operate a building materials recycling store, promote community involvement and environmental activities, offer community space to other community-based organizations, and serve as an environmental reference resource for the Greater New Orleans area.

The Louisiana Alliance for Affordable Energy is a non-profit, public interest, membership organization dedicated to creating fair, affordable, environmentally responsible, community-based energy policies for Louisiana and the nation.

The Renewables Council of Louisiana and the Louisiana Renewable Energy Industries Association joined together to form this statewide non-profit, Louisiana clean tech, to support the development of a new economic engine for our state.  Their mission is to facilitate the formation and growth of new companies, as well as the retooling of existing businesses, to capitalize on the rapidly expanding market for clean technologies, whether in research and development, manufacturing, distribution, sales, or maintenance.

Make it Right is a project underway to rebuild the Lower Ninth Ward with affordable, low-impact housing.

New Orleans Biodiesel Initiative (NOBI, LLC) is dedicated to providing New Orleans with biodiesel, a cleaner-burning and locally-produced diesel fuel. All of NOBI's biodiesel is made from waste cooking oil.

Any building or remodeling material that's in good shape can also be recycled through the Habitat for Humanity ReStore.

Sustainable Home and Garden designs sustainable energy systems, such as Solar & Wind. They are also able to provide consultations for those who are interested in making their home more energy efficient but who may not be ready to invest in solar energy systems.  Contact them at 504-258-3387.
