Almost every day of the week, you can find a neighborhood farmer's market in the greater New Orleans area, where farmers from all over the region sell delicious produce and home-made food. Find out more about the New Orleans Food Cooperative , a new cooperatively-run grocery store set to open in 2009. New Orleans Food and Farm Network works with individuals, communities, and growers to support sustainable growing practices and to ensure equal access to safe, nutritious, enjoyable food. New Orleans Hope and Heritage Project is planning to open the first ever holistic health center in New Orleans, which will include among other uses yoga, pilates, a cooperatively owned organic grocery, a hydroponic rooftop garden, a street university, a health food café, juice bar and coffee shop with a youth training program, emotional and alternative healers and visiting master healers and teachers, environmental offices and related retail bazaar and a New Orleans police substation. |
