Director John Sayles and the New Orleans premiere of Honeydripper, starring Danny Glover
Monday, February 11 at 7:00pm NOCCA, 2800 Chartres Street Tickets $15 general / $10 for students CLICK HERE FOR TICKETS! NOCCA and The NOCCA Institute will host the local premiere of Honeydripper, a new film from director John Sayles starring Danny Glover. The film will be screened in Lupin Hall on the NOCCA campus, 2800 Chartres Street, on Monday, February 11 at 7:00pm. Mr. Sayles and producer Maggie Renzi will be in attendance and will conduct a question-and-answer session following the film! About Honeydripper: In his 16th feature film, the iconoclastic Sayles continues his extraordinary examination of the complexities and shifting identities of American sub-cultures. With his usual understated intelligence, Sayles uses the rhythms of the citizens of Harmony, Alabama to immerse the audience into the world of the Jim Crow south. It’s a fable about the birth of rock n’ roll--a quintessentially American subject, but with a fidelity to time and temperament that is unusual in an American director. In addition to Mr. Glover, Honeydripper features Charles S. Dutton, Stacy Keach, Mary Steenburgen, Yaya DaCosta, Sean Patrick Thomas, and such notable musicians as Keb’ Mo’ and Dr. Mable John.
