Shelter team volunteers set-up and run shelters for people affected by disaster. Shelter team members receive Red Cross training to learn the policies and procedures of running a Red Cross shelter. 

Classes include Introduction to Disaster Services (video based course), Introduction to Mass Care (3 hour class), and Shelter Operations/Simulations (one day class). 

Shelter team members also seek out facilities that could be used as shelters by contacting religious organizations, municipalities, schools, and community centers.
