The Environmental Alliance for Senior Involvement (EASI) is a national nonprofit coalition of environmental, aging and volunteer organizations established in 1991. EASI's mission is to increase opportunities for older adults to play an active, visible role in protecting and improving the environment in their communities.
Volunteers are needed to help with restoration of New Orleans Brownfield sites - urban properties that are abandoned, underutilized, and contain some level of contamination that may pose a health risk to the community.
Volunteers may participate in activities such as: a community liaison, offer environmental advice to industry executives/ contractors who are building on Brownfield sites, advise on new Brownfield legislation, monitor water areas, assist with redevelopment planning and BF Inventories and Assessments, aid in property-title ownership look-ups and property tax status, aid communities with grant applications, locating and contracting consulting firms, and on-going technical support, provide a history of a Brownfield site, educate public about land re-uses, aid in the clean-up of some sites and aid in the restoration of natural areas.
