Fair Grounds customers will see significant changes in the way they place wagers when the track changes tote providers from SciGames to AmTote on Tuesday. The change not only impacts wagers made on-track, but at Fair Grounds’ nine off-track betting parlors in southeast Louisiana and its advance deposit wagering platform.

Fair Grounds Announces 2008-09 Stakes Schedule

Major event days are once again the highlight of Fair Grounds' 2008-09 stakes schedule announced Wednesday (Sept. 24). The track will offer 63 stakes worth more than $6.6 million in its 87-day meet, which begins Nov. 14 and continues through March 29, 2009.

Fair Grounds To Offer Record Daily Overnight Purses In 2008-09

Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots has announced purses for its 137th season of Thoroughbred racing, which begins on Nov. 14, 2008. Daily overnight purses offered will average approximately $300,000, which is a 20 percent increase over the $249,000 per day average paid in 2007-08.  In addition, a stakes schedule worth $6.6 million will be offered.

All Fair Grounds Facilities Now Open Following Gustav

Fair Grounds has re-opened its slots facility and grandstand, and as of Friday, all nine of its off-track betting facilities in southeast Louisiana are open. All facilities had been closed since Aug. 30 because of Hurricane Gustav.

Fair Grounds Concludes Inaugural Quarter Horse Meet

The inaugural Quarter Horse meet at Fair Grounds concluded Sunday, leaving both track officials and horsemen pleased. In the closing-day $40,000 Vieux Carre Stakes, Snowy Alibi covered the 330 yards in a track-record 16.96 seconds.
