STANDARDIZED TESTING DAY IS WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 15TH
Ninth, Tenth and Eleventh grade students will be taking standardized tests on Wednesday. Testing will begin promptly at 8am, and students are required to bring #2 pencils and a calculator. All testing will conclude by 11:15 am. Seniors not taking the ASVAB and all Eighth graders have no school on Wednesday. |

PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Dalton Hilliard, Jr. and Dante Butler have been named WWL-TV co-players of the week. These two Crusaders carried the load for the Crusaders as they both went over 100 yards rushing against Denham Springs. |

STUDENT COUNCIL INSTALLATION
The 2008 - 2009 Student Council officers and their families came together, this Sunday, as a community to celebrate their leadership roles at Brother Martin. At the end of the liturgy Mr. Gatti, Mr. Rando, and Mr. Fleetwood presented each student council officer with a gavel pin that signifies them as student leaders.

CRUSADER DISCOVERY NIGHT
Approximately 500 prospective students attended Crusader Discovery Night! The night included a pep rally with performances by the award winning Crusader drum line and cheerleaders. Middle School students from throughout the metropolitan area enjoyed hot dogs and pizza, and moved throughout campus for presentations on all aspects of the Brother Martin experience. CRUSADER FOOTBALL 4 - 0
The Brother Martin Football team improved their record by defeating the Denham Springs Yellowjackets with a score of 20 - 6. Dalton Hilliard, Jr. and Dante Butler carried the load for the Crusaders as they both went over 100 yards rushing. Next week the Crusaders start district play by visiting the Chalmette Owls on Friday night.date.

Brother Martin Prayer Breakfast
The 4th annual Brother Martin Prayer Breakfast orgionally scheduled for Thursday, September 11, 2008, has been postponed and rescheduled for Thursday, October 16, 2008. This year the keynote speaker will be Fr. Paul Hart ‘70. Fr. Paul is the pastor of St. Andrew the Apostle Church and the Dean of the
Algiers-Plaquemines Deanery. He also sits on the Archbishop's Financial Council, and the Archdiocesan School Board. Fr. Paul is a 1970 graduate of Brother Martin High. We hope that you will able to join us on this rescheduled date.

CALENDAR CHANGE:
Due to school cancellations because of the recent hurricanes, we are adding one additional instructional day in the spring semester. Monday, March 2, 2009 will be a full instructional day instead of the originally planned student holiday. Please note that this is the Monday immediately following the week-long Mardi Gras holidays. |

PEP RALLY
The Crusaders started game day with a pep rally. Featured in the pep rally were the cheerleaders and Crusader Band. Coach Gallagher introduced members of the defending State Champion Cross Country Team and Mr. Frederickson introduced the members of the Swim Team. Class level competitions followed as did a day of Crusader Spirit!

SENIOR LUNCH
As the first quarter of the school year nears its end, the seniors were honored with our traditional parents club lunch. During the lunch periods seniors were given lunches fit for a king. Thanks to the parents that helped serve.

Wendy’s High School Heisman
The Wendy’s High School Heisman Award honors high school seniors who excel in academics, athletics, and student leadership. All senior student-athletes who work hard, are dedicated and have become a role model for their school’s underclassmen are encouraged to apply.

Please note that the Brother Martin night at the WWII Museum, originally scheduled for Thursday, September 18, has been rescheduled for Thursday, October 23, 2008. All Brother Martin faculty, students, and families are invited, with free admission, to the museum this evening, from 6 to 9 pm, in support of our summer reading book, Ghost Soldiers.
