What to Expect
- You can set up new residential service over the phone. If you're in a section of Louisiana served by Entergy already, you can just transfer your existing service. Otherwise you have to set up new service. You'll need to provide your name, Social Security number, Driver's License number, date of birth, previous address, employer name, and a phone number (your own or a contact). Your service should be up two days later.
- If your new home has had no service for six months, you may require a permit and that will slow things down. You'll need to get a licensed plumber and electrician to look things over first. Once you get the permit, the city of New Orleans will tell Entergy it's okay to turn on your power.
- There's no need for you to be present for electricity to be turned on, but for gas someone over the age of 18 will have to be home to let the service person in to inspect and light the pilots.
- Deposits for new service are based on your credit history, but won't exceed $50.00, which will be billed to your account. The deposit will be credited against your final bill.
Other
You can pay your bill at numerous places throughout the city; call the 800 number for a list of pay stations in your neighborhood.
